GUESTS OF PALMETTO GOLF CLUB

The Palmetto Golf Club welcomes you and its staff will do everything in their power to make your day an enjoyable one of golf in a relaxed atmosphere.  We are a club with few, if any rules, but our members do respect, and ask you to respect, our traditions and customs.  We are proud of the Club.  Who wouldn't be proud of one of the original courses in America?  Palmetto Golf Club is the product of great members and the result of work by two icons in their respective fields- our Clubhouse was designed by Stanford White, who’s only other Clubhouse project was Shinnecock Hills and Alister MacKenzie, best known for his design for Augusta National Golf Club.

Guests may play once a month with a member if the guest resides within a 75 mile radius of Aiken, SC.

So, welcome!  We are glad you are here.  Please review our customs and traditions below and when in doubt, please ask your Palmetto member.

1.  Please park your vehicle in the lot on the right side of the drive labeled VISITORS PARKING.  You may drive down to the lower lot in order to drop off your clubs, or you may place them behind your vehicle and our attendants will pick them up and bring them to the pro shop.

2.  Please check in at the Pro Shop when you come on the property.  We encourage all guests to bring their golf shoes and any change of clothes to the locker room in the same building as the Pro Shop.  A guest locker is available.  Please do not change shoes in the Visitors Parking lot.

3.  Courtesy on the golf course is expected of every player.  The single most important factor in producing an enjoyable round of golf is speed of play.  As you know, or will soon experience, Palmetto Golf Course is one of tees and greens in close proximity.  Please be conscious of your voice and conversation- they carry a long way in the woods.

4.  Please carefully rake all sand traps and repair ball marks.  Keep pace with the group in front of you.  We ask that you play your round in 4 hours or less.

5.  Members can help you navigate the course but the most important thing to keep in mind if you are driving a golf cart is to exit the fairway when you see the green and white posts approximately 70-100 yards from the green.

6.  Proper golf attire is required.  Traditional "blue jeans" are not considered appropriate golf attire.

7. Cell phones are, unfortunately, a part of our lives.  The Club will not prohibit their use however, we request you use your cell phones for emergency business or medical calls.  Please be brief.

 8.  Customs and traditions also extend to THE PORCH.  Part of your visit should be a post-round conversation with our members on The PORCH.  Hyperbole, bad jokes and a "one that got away" story are all that is required for entry into rocking chair circle.  Please join us.

9.  Finally, a custom that we like to remind guests about.  We are pleased to see Palmetto Golf Club logos in airports and anyplace where great people like yourself are.  Please stop by the Pro Shop before you leave the property and fill up one of our Palmetto Golf Club shopping bags with memories of your day.

Please note that Palmetto is a non-smoking facility, so we ask that you refrain from smoking in the clubhouse, pro shop, and locker rooms.

Again, welcome.  We are anxious to meet you and have you experience golf the way it was meant to be experienced.

Thanks and Have A Great Day!
